As part of World Refugee Day 2022, we worked with the Primary 6 pupils at Stepps Primary School to teach them about refugees and New Scots, and the support they deserve in seeking safety in Scotland.
The pupils were put into groups and given a war-torn country to research and then to present on in the most creative way possible.
The pupil's presentations were fantastic, going into detail of the issues in the country as well as how their cultures differ to our own. The key part was the pupil's learning of other cultures and how important it is to embrace and respect these. This was particularly pertinent with the recent war in Ukraine and some Ukrainian refugees living in the area.
